Sheryl Spithoff MD MSc is a Clinician Scientist at Women’s College Hospital and an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. She has appointments at Women’s College Research Institute and the School of Public Health at the University of Toronto.  Her research explores topics at the intersection of new technologies, commercial interests and the healthcare system.

Susan Hum MSc has been the Research Associate at WCH Family Practice Health Centre since 2007, where she assists staff and health professional learners with their academic, research, educational scholarship, and quality improvement projects. She is also involved in writing reports and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publication.


Research Collaborators 

Quinn Grundy RN PhD is an Assistant Professor with the Lawrence S. Bloomberg Faculty of Nursing at the University of Toronto and an Honorary Senior Lecturer with the School of Pharmacy and Charles Perkins Centre at The University of Sydney. Dr. Grundy’s research explores the commercial determinants of health and their impact on the delivery of health services, health evidence, and consumer health information.

Brenda McPhail, PhD is the Director of Executive Education for the Master of Public Policy in Digital Society Program at McMaster University. She has appeared as an expert witness before Parliamentary and Senate committees regarding privacy law, national security, and biometric data, and serves as a member of the Advisory Council for the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Ontario. Her current research is directed towards a range of privacy issues including workplace surveillance applications, media governance and AI, facial recognition technology, privacy and consent, and virtual health care data privacy.

Robyn K. Rowe, MIR, PhD is the Chair of the Indigenous Data Team at Health Data Research Network Canada and a Staff Scientist at ICES in Ontario, Canada. Dr. Rowe is a qualitative health scientists whose research interests converge in the areas of Indigenous and Canadian health and policy; national and international Indigenous-led Data Governance and Sovereignty; social, environmental, and digital justice; and the critical intersections of decolonialism, anti-colonialism, and anti-racism.

Danyaal Raza is a family physician with Unity Health Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital, and Assistant Professor with the University of Toronto’s Department of Family & Community Medicine. Dr. Raza is a past Chair of Canadian Doctors for Medicare, and founding physician lead of the Sumac Creek Health Centre in Toronto’s Regent Park. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Atkinson Foundation, is a Broadbent Institute Fellow, and an advisor to Progress Toronto.
